Local council based in Maroubra is currently seeking 1 x Experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join their team for an immediate start.


Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 6.30am – 3.30pm

Pay Rate: $49.17/hour


Duties include:

·        Perform high quality scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance to Councils vehicles, plant and equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations, adopted service schedules, RMS and relevant WH&S requirements.

·        Perform tasks within set time frame with high standard of workmanship in a timely and cost effective manner.

·        Diagnose mechanical faults based on reported service problems.

·        Identify and receive parts required to undertake repairs and programmed services to minimise plant downtime.

·        Report any damage or operating faults that are observed during repairs and / or servicing to the Team Leader.

·        Ensure that all surplus materials and tools are returned to the appropriate storage areas.

·        Carry out inspection of plant & fleet, reporting any damage or mechanical issues

·        Maintain accurate records of plant repairs and servicing undertaken and the times required in each assigned job.

·        Maintain the workshop and plant and equipment in the workshop in a clean and tidy manner.

·        Adhere to all safe work practices and Workplace Health and Safety requirements


Requirements:

·     Full Australian Working Rights

·     Successful completion of a Tradesperson certificate of competency in a relevant mechanical trade

·     MVRIC Trade Certificate

·     An understanding of the maintenance and repair requirements of a broad range of plant and equipment

·     A commitment to the principles of a team-based work culture

·     A medium rigid (MR) drivers’ licence (or willingness to acquire within 3 months of employment)

·     Experience in welding in a mechanical workshop setting.

·     Ability to work various shifts to suit work requirements.

·     Experience in working to manufacturer’s service and maintenance schedule.

·     Sound diagnostic ability.

·     Own hand tools

·      RTA Vehicle Inspection Certificate is desirable

·      Experience in working with waste trucks, road sweepers, medium & large trucks and small machinery & equipment is desirable
