MTC Recruitment are working with a long-established leading manufacturer of specialist chemical additives which are used in the production of products across the food & beverage, cleaning, personal care, construction and mining industries. The Role
Based in their Western Sydney manufacturing facility, a full-time dayshift opportunity exists for a skilled Maintenance Fitter with a strong background in both mechanical maintenance and fabrication. You will work closely with the Maintenance Leading Hand and other team members to ensure equipment reliability, safety compliance, and efficient operations across the site. This role is ideal for a Mechanical Fitter who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys working across a broad range of tasks in a manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support shutdowns, breakdowns, and preventative maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues with manufacturing equipment
- Perform welding, fabrication, installation and commissioning related tasks.
- Operation of manual machining tools including lathes (desirable)
- Conduct risk assessments and follow site safety protocols
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using MEX or similar systems
- Monitor equipment performance and report on status and required rectifications
- Support the maintenance store by stocking shelves, handling goods, and operating forklifts
- Ensure compliance with site safety standards and permit systems
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and timely repairs
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Australian Mechanical Trade Qualifications (Cert III or IV)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within chemical or industrial environments
- Experience overhauling rotating equipment such as pumps, agitators and blowers
- Manual machining skills and lathe experience (desirable)
- Prior experience in welding and fabrication of pipework
- A knowledge of boilers and compressors
- Knowledge of static equipment, boilers, and compressors
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Forklift, EWP, and confined space licences (desirable)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance systems eg. MEX. SAP

Skills & Experience
- Mechanical trade qualifications (Cert III or IV) or Boilermaker ticket
- Proven experience in fabrication, pipework, and rotating equipment (e.g., pumps, agitators, blowers)
- Familiarity with static equipment, boilers, compressors, and pressure vessels
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in chemical or industrial manufacturing environments
- High Risk Work Licences (forklift, EWP, confined space) – desirable
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and maintenance systems (e.g., MEX, SAP)
