Our client, a non-profit organisation, is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to assist Marrickville team Part time for a short assignment – 6 Weeks / Starting end of May 2025
Role Purpose
- Ensure timely completion of transactional processes for the Group's Finance function.
- Serve as the first point of contact with suppliers, following up on invoice payments.
- Assist Financial Accountant and Group Finance Manager in providing robust financial and accounting services.
Role Duties
- Perform full 360 Accounts Payable responsibilities:
- Process and verify invoices.
- Set up and maintain supplier accounts.
- Prepare and process payment runs.
- Reconcile AP ledgers and supplier accounts.
- Handle staff reimbursement claims.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Assist in month-end closing and reporting.
- Ensure invoice accuracy, seek authorisation, and accurately cost, code, and enter invoices.
- Ensure timely and accurate supplier payments based on terms.
- Reconcile major creditor accounts and ensure payments align with reconciliations.
- Process and report financial data (e.g., creditors reports) and asset management in line with accounting standards and auditing practices.
- Engage in process reviews and redesign for continuous improvement.
- Assist in identifying, implementing, and improving financial systems, processes, and policies.
- Comply with and contribute to company policies and procedures.
- Assist Financial Accountant, Group Finance Manager, and other senior managers as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
- Accountant or Degree/Tertiary education or at least 4 years of substantial qualification through commercial experience in a similar position.
- Excellent knowledge of integrated financial information management systems.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Understanding of Goods and Services Tax application.
- Knowledge of financial procedures and accounting reconciliations.
- Understanding of the Not-for-profit sector.
- Ability to work with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills.
- Strong Excel, Word, and numeracy skills.
- Experience using Technology One and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Details
- 6-week assignment commencing end of May.
- Part time - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
- Paying $38.00 per hour plus super.
- This is an onsite role based in Marrickville Head officer
- Must have full working rights in Australia.
- Commitment to the safety of children and vulnerable communities: Police Clearance (conducted by us) and a valid Working with Children Check (funded by you) are required.
