About the Role

We are looking for someone to join our Youth and Community team. The MTC Youth and Community (YAC) division operates from 1 location, Campbelltown. YAC delivers programs in the areas of Sydney Southwest & Illawarra. This is full time max term contract of 12 months with a possibility of get extended.

Reporting to the Youth & Community Manager, the Program Manager will be responsible for the below duties, such as:

  • Coordinate local opportunities, programs and resources to identify secure job placements and tertiary education to match opportunities to Aboriginal students’ career aspirations.
  • Coordinate and maintain the implementation of the Opportunity Hub ‘Advisory Group’ to support stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure relevant parties within partner schools and other stakeholders understand Opportunity Hub Services that are available to them to assist young people to remain engaged or re-engage with education.
  • Support students through individualised career planning, mentoring and support services and the engagement of family and community members.
  • Foster and maintain effective and collaborative partnerships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across divisions/functions including employers, tertiary education and training providers, Advisory Group, other non-government organisations and family and community and facilitate the ongoing development and expansion of stakeholder engagement to achieve strategic and operational goals.
  • Provide regular reports to NSW DoE on the service delivery activities and track Aboriginal student progress measures, including summary statistical reports for all students supported by the Hub and student level data for students in Years 9-12 or having left school.

About You:

The ideal applicant we are seeking will have:

  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Welfare/Social Services/Education or significant industry experience.
  • Experience working in culturally and linguistically diverse communities, with Aboriginal people and communities.
  • 4+ years of experience working with ‘at risk’ young people and demonstrated understanding of issues facing young people at risk.
  • Program management experience including management of people and budgets, and proven ability to meet outcomes and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Demonstrated experience in achieving quality employment outcomes for young people.
