About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic Accounts Payable Officer to join our Finance team on a full-time 4-month contract (with a strong view for extension). The Finance team is responsible for effective and efficient financial processes and controls to enable MTC Group to fulfil its vision.

Reporting to Financial Accountant, key responsibilities for this role includes:

  • Carry out day-to-day routine transactional Accounts Payable (AP) processes.
  • Ensure major creditor accounts are reconciled and that payment is made according to these reconciliations.
  • Ensure suppliers are paid accurately and in a timely manner based on the terms of payment.
  • Ensure the timely and effective processing and reporting of financial data (e.g. creditors reports) and asset management, in line with relevant accounting standards and good auditing practices.
  • Ensure accuracy of invoices received, authorisation sought from appropriate staff members and accurately costed, coded, and entered.
  • Assist in month-end closing activities, preparing reconciliations for both accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • To assist Financial Accountant and Group Finance Manager and other senior managers with tasks as required.

About You

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Accountant or Degree/Tertiary education or at least 4 years’ substantial qualification through commercial experience in similar position.
  • Excellent knowledge of integrated financial information management systems.
  • Understanding of the Not-for-profit sector.
  • Understanding the application of Goods and Services Tax.
  • Proficiency in using Technology One and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong excel, word and numeracy skills.
  • Financial procedures and accounting reconciliations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
