Assistant Accountant | AP & Financial Accounting Split

About the Role

This position offers a balanced mix of responsibilities, with approximately 50% focused on Accounts Payable (AP). During the first six months, your work will primarily involve AP tasks, after which you’ll transition into broader financial accounting duties, providing a clear pathway for career development.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, your key responsibilities will include:

• Managing full accounts payable and receivable cycles
• Processing invoices and payment runs
• Performing data entry and maintaining accurate financial records
• Supporting month-end processes and reporting
• Conducting bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Managing fixed asset registers and depreciation calculations
• Assisting with external audit coordination
• Contributing to special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
• 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong technical knowledge of Australian accounting standards
• Advanced Excel and financial systems skills
• Experience in financial statement preparation
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure

Desirable:

• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite
• Previous experience in a similar Assistant Accountant role

Salary & Benefits

• $80,000 + Super
